On 15 October the Senate hosted the colloquium “Industrie de la mode et métiers d’art: Savoir-faire, formation, innovation, et compétitivité – Un pilier de l’économie française” (“The fashion industry and artistic professions: Savoir-faire, training, innovation, and competitiveness – A pillar of the French economy”).

The event, organised under the authority of the Comité stratégique de filière des industries de la mode et du luxe, was initiated and supported by Catherine Dumas, a Senator representing Paris and President of the Working Group on Artistic Professions. The colloquium benefited from the patronage of Sophie Primas, a Senator representing Yvelines and President of the Commission des Affaires Economiques, and of Catherine Morin-Desailly, a Senator representing the Seine-Maritime and President of the Commission de la Culture, de l’Education, et de la Communication.

The event’s program created a unique opportunity to promote the fashion industry and artistic professions with an audience of parliament members and to increase their awareness of the different problems and challenges the sector faces.
